British Railways Class 06 Andrew Barclay 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter

Class 06

All of the class were allocated to the Scottish Region throughout, and many were taken into departmental service upon withdrawal. Mass withdrawal took place in 1968, but the surviving examples were withdrawn slowly up until the last one was taken into departmental service in 1981.

BUILT: 1956-62 by Andrew Barclay, Sons & Co. Ltd., Kilmarnock.

ENGINE: Gardner 8L3 204hp

NUMBER SERIES: Between 06001 to 06010.

PREVIOUS NUMBERS: D2400 to D2444.

TRANSMISSION: Mechanical.

MAX SPEED: 23 mph.

WEIGHT: 37 tonnes.

WHEEL ARRANGEMENT: 0-6-0 - 3'7" Diameter.
