LNER Class Gresley London & North Eastern Railway V3 2-6-2 Tank

Built 1939-1940. Designed by Nigel Gresley.

Total Number Built 10 - Total to BR 73.

Introduced 1939. Development of Gresley Class V1 with higher boiler pressure.

A total of 63 Class V3 locomotives were rebuilt from Class V1.

(a) Rebuilt from V1 by LNER - Total 4.

(b) Rebuilt from V1 by BR - Total 59.

The engines are identical in appearance to Class V1.
