Introduced 1908. Ivatt Great Northern Railway (GNR) design. Larger wheeled version of Class J5.
The domes and chimneys of these engines latterly varied a good deal. Some had shorter chimneys and smaller domes, whilst some had a long chimney but very squat dome.
Number Series 65002-65014 (with gaps - see Locomotive Numbers below).

The first four engines of the class, Nos. 5000, 5001, 5011 and 5012 were withdrawn by the LNER in 1947. No. 5000 was formally GNR No. 1

The last loco withdrawn was 65013 on 22 November 1954 from Hitchin shed.
None are preserved.
