EE Type 4 Class 40 40058 (D258) at Preston on 21 Mar 1983

Then allocated to Healey Mills HM MPD, 40058 pauses while heading an up block oil tanker train. This end of the loco has been cleaned up and the connecting doors plated over. This was carried out at Ayr MPD in April 1982 following collision damage in a derailment.

Built at EE Vulcan Foundry in February 1960, this loco saw 24 years service and was then withdrawn in Sept 1984 at Crewe MPD due to a fractured bogie. It was cut up at BREL Crewe in Oct 1987.
