Still in original rail blue livery, 87029 takes the up fast in charge of 1A18 06.10 Carlisle - Euston, though it has been fitted with high speed pantograph and TDM push-pull equipment. Tip of the day! when using this service, choose the second sitting for breakfast after Preston, as keeping breakfast on the table is nearly impossible as the train swoops through the curves and gradients in Cumbria!

Delivered from BREL Crewe works in June 1974, this loco spent its whole life on the WCML until withdrawn and was one of those unfortunate to be exported to Bulgaria in May 2009.

Named "Earl Marischal" on 26 June 1978 at Willesden TMD without ceremony, commemorating the Scottish College of Heralds as one of the ancient Anglo-Scottish titles carried by the Class 87 fleet.
