Built at BREL Crewe works in November 1973, 87006 'City of Glasgow' approaches Stafford while heading 1V76 09.36 Liverpool - Penzance. After 35 years service it was withdrawn and exported to Bulgaria in January 2009.

Named on 08/12/1977 at Glasgow Cen by David Hodge, then Lord Provost of Glasgow as part of twinning the principal cities on the WCML with the railway connecting them.

In this photo, the loco wears a short lived version of the large logo livery, but with a smart dark grey body colour, as part of an evaluation of proposed new liveries for the launch of the new InterCity business sector. Although very smart, I think the better livery won.
