Built EE Vulcan Foundry in November 1965; here 86250 calls with an unidentified up IC service. Withdrawn in 2008, the loco was exported in January 2012 to Hungary as part of the Floyd Europhoenix fleet.

Named on 20 September 1980 at Glasgow Central by Alan Jenkins, Editor of the Glasgow Herald, twinning BR with the newspaper founded in 1783.
