Built BREL Doncaster works in November 1965, modified 1972 to 86/2 with Flexicoil suspension and resilient wheels; here 86224 runs light from the station.

Named at Willesden MPD on 19 July 1979, after a former steam locomotive and linking the class with their Anglo-Scottish WCML role; Caledonia is the Roman name for Scotland.

Withdrawn in January 2006 when it came off lease with Virgin Rail, it was scrapped later the same year at Ron Hull, Rotherham

Built December 1965 at BREL Doncaster and scrapped in 2006 at Ron Hull, Rotherham; here 86224 runs through light engine.

Fuller details for this loco are associated with its image elsewhere on this site, dated 09 April 1982. The most obvious difference visible here being the change to the Brecknell-Willis high speed pantograph for continuous 110mph running.
