Built at EE Vulcan Foundry in September 1965; here 86218 has earlier arrived on 1S44 14.40 Blackpool - Glasgow and detached with the Buffet Car, now standing in the middle road. This Summer dated working was hauled forward by diesel to its destination along the former G&SW route via Dumfries, Kilmarnock.

Named at Willesden MPD on 18/06/1979 to commemorate early locos used on the WCML route, Planet was an 1830 built loco by Robert Stephenson for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway; today a replica stands in the Manchester Museum of Science.

Withdrawn in September 2008, the loco was exported to Hungary for the operator Floyd ZRT in February 2011.
