Wearing the original InterCity livery 86217 takes the up fast through Rugby, heading 1A21 07.25 Manchester Piccadilly - Euston.

The loco was built August 1965 by the EE Vulcan Foundry, saw 43 years service on WCML - including a year from 1988 as Class 86/5 dedicated Freightliner loco - and was withdrawn in Sept 2008. After lying unused for some years, the loco was exported in Feb 2013 by Europhoenix to Hungary for the open access operator Floyd ZRT.

Named "Halley's Comet" on 14 Nov 1985 at Manchester Piccadilly to commemorate National Astronomy week and the impending return of Halley's Comet in 1986.
