Built by BREL Doncaster in October 1963; here 85024 heads through an ecs rake.

In 1989 late delivery of the Class 90s caused Railfreight to convert 10 Class 85 to dedicated freight locos - with eth removed and regeared for max 75mph running. This loco became 85107, but was withdrawn in May 1990 - I believe due to fire damage? - and was scrapped in June 1993 at MC Metals, Glasgow
