Built at BRCW Smethwick works in April 1962; here 81021 marshals Parcels bogies for a later up departure. Towards the end of their careers, in the 1980s the Class 81 locos were concentrated at Glasgow Shields Road MPD and as a class bore the Leaping Salmon logo denoting their Glasgow connection. This loco was withdrawn in April 1987 and cut up in October 1992 at MC Metals, Glasgow.

81 021 arrives with an ecs rake. Since 1975 this class was allocated to Glasgow Shields Rd depot to work the then new WCML extension to Glasgow. As such it carries that depot's logo - the Leaping Salmon on its bodyside.

Delivered in April 1962, this loco was withdrawn in 1987 and cut up in Oct 1992 at MC Metals, Glasgow.
