Built in July 1983, one of the final batch of 20 Class 56 built at BR Crewe works, and less than a month old in this photo; 56122 is resplendent in BR large logo livery and light grey roof, heading an up rake of mgr empties.
After less than 10 years in service, it was withdrawn in October 1992 and eventually cut up in November 1995 at Booth Roe Metals, Rotherham.
