47644 "The Permanent Way Institution" departs Glasgow Central heading 1M03 13.45 Glasgow - Carlisle, via Kilmarnock and Dumfries on old G&SWR route.

This loco was built by Brush Falcon works in December 1966 and was allocated to 86A Cardiff Canton, remaining a WR loco till coming north to Eastfield ED depot in Jan'86 where it became a 47/4 loco and received its smart BR large logo livery, complete with 'Westie' terrier logo, red buffer beam, yellow miniature snowploughs and light grey roof. Withdrawn in August 2005, it was cut up by Ron Hull, Rotherham in May 2006.

It received its name on 08/06/1986 at Perth Station, twinning the railway with the railway focussed Institution.
