Built EE Vulcan Foundry in November 1960 (D301); here allocated to Carlisle Kingmoor KD TMD, 40101 calls with a delayed Aberdeen - Glasgow QS service. Not a regular performer on these services, I believe the Class 40 may have been a replacement for an earlier failed loco. Withdrawn in August 1982, this loco was cut up at BREL Crewe works in December 1984.
