Built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry in January 1965, here 37 262 "Dounreay" is the train engine for that evening's Inverness - Euston Motorail service, pilot engine was 37 418. Allocated to Inverness TMD this loco also carries the Highland Rail logo. The loco was named "Dounreay" on 14/06/85 at Thurso, one of two locos, to mark the upgrading of all 23 stations between Dingwall and Wick/ Thurso - named after Dounreay nuclear power station. In October 2003 the loco was withdrawn from the Direct Rail Services pool. It was cut up by Simsmetal Uk Ltd, Beeston on 9th February 2004.
