Built EE Vulcan Foundry in January 1965 (D6961) and first allocated to Sheffield Darnall depot; here allocated to Inverness IS, in the FGUV Speedlink pool, 37261 "Caithness" stands on Inverness T&RSMD awaiting its next duty. In addition to its Highland Rail logo under the cabside window, the loco carries the headlight required for working over the Far North lines.

Named "Caithness" at Wick Station on 14 June 1985 to mark the upgrading of all 23 stations between Dingwall and Wick/Thurso on Far North line.

This loco is still operational as 37261 in the DRS fleet, XHNC Nuclear pool, allocated to Carlisle Kingmoor KM depot, wearing DRS Compass livery.
