Built by BRCW Smethwick works in September 1961; here 33052 stands on Bath Road MPD on a rather wet wintry day.

Named 15 May 1980 at Ashford station by Mayor Apps of Ashford, to celebrate the town's long association with the railways. The name was removed in September 1996 and transferred to 92030 to continue the association with a modern locomotive working from the Channel Tunnel.

This loco was withdrawn in February 1997.
